Product Details

Prunus padus Albertii is a clone of Bird Cherry has been cultivated since the 1900s and is one of the best clone for planting where space is more restricted.

The leaves are long, pointy and fairly dense for a cherry, making this tree easy to distinguish from other cherry trees even when it is not in flower. The flower is unique to Bird Cherry trees, producing long, hanging white racemes that adorn the tree at a similar time to the foliage emerging.

The crown of Prunus padus Albertii is very ascending when young, before developing into an oval to rounded shape at maturity. Like many cherries this tree prefers a free draining soil and will not thrive in water logged conditions.

A rather good choice for garden, street and verge planting, this very free flowering form has an excellent track record for requiring little maintenance.

Mature height: 7-12m
