Cornelian Cherry
Cornus mas multistemAbout this product
Cornus mas, or Cornelian Cherry, introduced in the late 1890s and awarded the Merit in 1929, is a native of central and southern Europe with a long period of interest.
This multi-stemmed, compact tree features small yellow flowers that bloom from bare stems in February, offering a stunning display of colour during a typically dull month. Its bright-red, cherry-like fruits are edible, and the leaves turn a delightful reddish-purple in autumn.
The multi-stem form enhances its utility for screening and privacy, providing a denser and more attractive barrier. Tough and tolerant of various soil conditions, it is ideal for spaces where year-round interest and privacy are key.
Mature height: 3-7m
