About this product

Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood', also known as Bloodgood Japanese Maple, is an enhanced clone of Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' that maintains its rich foliage colour throughout the summer. Recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society with the Award of Garden Merit in 2002, this stunning tree thrives in most well-drained soils and is best grown as a bush, away from strong winds and scorching sun.

Its red/purple cut leaves contrast any garden, and its bushy habit adds to its visual appeal. Native to Japan, this deciduous tree reaches an ultimate height of 2.5–4 meters and a spread of 2.5–4 meters over 10–20 years. It is well-suited to positions in full sun or partial shade and is known for its hardiness, having coped well even during the cold winter of 2011/12.

Mature height: 3-7m
