About this product

Sorbus x arnoldiana Schouten is a tough and reliable clone of Mountain Ash

This tree has large leaves composed of small leaflets, which give the tree an overall light and feathery appearance. In the spring, white flowers appear in clusters, followed by small bunches of bright golden yellow berries in August and lush, deep purple, orange, and red autumn colours. The yellowy orange fruits are not attractive to wildlife and, as such, remain on the tree into the wintertime.

Sorbus x arnoldiana Schouten is a very tough tree. Unlike many other Rowan varieties, it can tolerate the harshest urban conditions, including reflected heat and light.

At maturity, it forms a tidy and compact oval crown and will thrive in most soil conditions. Often overlooked by the many other “garden” Sorbus varieties on the market, this small tree has all the attractive qualities of its ornamental rivals yet is durable and strong, making it a favourable selection over the more disease-prone alternatives.

Being a small tree, it is a super choice where space is limited and will provide a combination of benefits throughout the seasons.

If you live in an area where rabbits or deer are common, we suggest installing rabbit guards on these trees.

Mature height: 7-12m
