Blue Giant Redwood
Sequoiadendron giganteum GlaucaOut of stock
Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
This great clonal variation of the better-known Giant Redwood has existed since the late 1800s but remains a rare tree in the UK.
Its foliage is a subtle blue, only really noticed for its vibrancy when standing beside its green parent.
Sequoiadendron giganteum Glauca needs to be kept moist in the first few summers after planting to establish it well. Thereafter, it can thrive on most soils and grow rapidly. Sequoiadendron giganteum Glauca only attains about two-thirds the size of Sequoiadendron giganteum at maturity. However, it still needs a lot of room, so it is best suited for parklands and estates.
Like most evergreens, they are best planted either early or late, i.e., in September / October or April / May.
Mature height: 12-17m
Please note: Medium specimens are 2 to 2.5 metres tall and are sold in 100-litre containers.
