Fastigiate Oak
Quercus robur FastigiataOut of stock
Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Like so many trees, the parents are overtaken by its clonal selections, which are more often in tune with our urban surroundings. This is what’s happened to this fine tree that is mostly sold as Quercus robur Fastigiata Koster, but in truth, there is little between them. Being a clone, Koster is uniformly constant at maturity, whereas Quercus robur Fastigiata can display some genetic variability.
Don’t let this put you off, as the Fastigiate Oak tree is well suited to an ample garden space and should not be confined to parkland areas.
There aren’t many of us with an oak tree within our garden, but Quercus robur Fastigiata forms a shape that is only about 25% wide in relation to its height, so it is a viable shape of a beautiful structural tree within a large garden.
Mature height: 12-17m
