About this product

Named ‘Pringreen’ in the USA where it originated in the 1990s, this fabulous Pin Oak form was raised from a seedling bed in New Jersey and taken up by Princeton Nurseries.

It is the fastigiate version of Quercus palustris, with deeply lobed, shiny green leaves that turn scarlet in autumn. This makes for a wonderful display.

Its ascending branches give it a very columnar shape, so it can be accommodated within a garden rather than a parkland environment.

Quercus palustris Green Pillar thrives best in acidic rather than neutral soil, and it prefers free-draining land.

For years, there was only one brand of upright Oak, Quercus robur Fastigiata, and its close clone, Koster. However, this magnificent tree offers so much more in terms of autumn colour.

Mature height: 12-17m
