Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Prunus serrula Tibetica multi-stem, also known as Tibetan Cherry, has stunning mahogany-coloured shiny bark which peels with age to reveal further polished bark. It is truly a tree which gets better with age.
The leaves of the Tibetan Cherry are small and resemble those of a willow. While the tree produces small white flowers in April, they are not as eye-catching as its distinctive stem. It is this unique feature that motivates the planting of the Tibetan Cherry. Consequently, this remarkable tree is also cultivated and supplied as a coppiced multi-stem variety, showcasing its stunning, peeling bark to its fullest extent.
Like many cherries, this vigorous grower will thrive in most soil types and prefers well-drained soil.
This petite tree serves as a delightful addition to any planting scheme, adding vibrancy during the dreary winter season. It pairs excellently with other trees boasting colourful bark, like Betula utilis Jacquemontii, enhancing the brilliance of their hues amidst the winter gloom.
It can be planted as an individual specimen or is equally effective as an avenue and can be combined with careful under-planting once the trees are established to exaggerate the colour of the stems.
Mature height: 3-7m
