Crab apple

Malus toringo Scarlet

Tree size guide
£252.00

About this product

Malus toringo Scarlet is our glorious recent introduction. It has dark pink blossoms in the spring and the most fantastic red wine foliage in the summer.

Like most crab apples, its red fruits are small, but they provide good pollination for other eating and cooking apple varieties within its vicinity.

Its leaves are not regular in shape, with indented lobes adding to their appeal.

Malus toringo Scarlet thrives in most situations and is a better prospect than flowering cherry if you have heavy clay soil.

It is an excellent tree for providing vivid contrast within a garden, and its spectacular foliage display never fails to impress.

There are a few dark-leaved crab apples on the market, but in our opinion, this is the finest!

We recommend rabbit guards for these trees if you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer.

Mature height: 3-7m
