Native Crab Apple
Malus sylvestrisOut of stock
Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Malus sylvestris, known as our Native Crab Apple, is a pretty tree with abundant white flower in the spring followed by red flushed fruits in the autumn which are great for wildlife.
Malus is best suited to heavy soils, including clay, and make fine small trees for most gardens.
Green summer leaves turn a crisp yellow in the autumn before falling.
Malus sylvestris is perhaps our prettiest native tree and tolerates a hard prune if required, although it generally needs little maintenance.
If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer then we recommend rabbit guards for these trees.
Mature Height: 3-7m
