Malus gorgeous produces dainty star shaped flowers from pink tinged buds in spring. By the autumn its fruits darken to red, sometimes deep orange, to the delight of the local wildlife.
If you can get the them before the birds the fruits can be used to make fine tasting crab apple jelly.
Like other trees in this genus, Malus Gorgeous prefers heavier soils and can tolerate wetter, though free draining land in winter.
