Malus floribundaAbout this product
Malus floribunda is a wonderfully floriferous Crab Apple that was introduced from Japan in the early 1860s. It is also known as the Japanese Crab Apple.
This pretty and small tree has profuse flowers, with small petals compared to other Crab Apples. The green foliage appears in early spring whilst the crimson flower buds are developing, once open the flowers are white or pale blush and in great numbers, completely covering the tree.
The fruits of the Japanese Crab Apple are fairly small, greenish-yellow with a hint of red, and last long into the winter.
Like most Malus varieties, this tree will thrive on most soils, doing particularly well on clay. Malus floribunda is a round-headed tree that tends to have arching branches which give it a spreading appearance.
This beautiful tree is slow growing making it a perfect flowering choice for small gardens with clay soil.
If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer then we recommend rabbit guards for these trees.
