About this product

First documented in 1872, this russet apple is a favourite in the UK, behind Malus Cox’s Orange Pippin. The spring flower is pink in bud and opens to apple blossom white and the green leaves turn yellow in the autumn before leaf fall. Malus Egremont Russett thrives on most free draining soils and can also do well on heavier clay ground. Malus Egremont Russett produces apples that have a rough textured green /yellow skin with a soft but crunchy creamy flesh and a taste with a hint of pear. To get the most out of your fruit in terms of size and flavour, it’s always worth top dressing the tree with a general purpose fertilizer each spring. If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer then we recommend rabbit guards for these trees. Mature height: 3-7m
