Discovery Eating Apple
Malus DiscoveryOut of stock
Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
First raised in Essex in 1949, this hugely popular eating apple has rosy flesh and a sharp but crisply sweet taste. It was a bumper harvest for UK apples in the autumn of 2015, and a piece on BBC Radio 5 labelled it ‘superb’ in a live taster trial.
The spring blossom starts as pink buds and matures into beautiful white flowers, while the sizable green leaves transition to a vibrant yellow in autumn.
Malus Discovery thrives on most free-draining soils, including heavier clay ones. If you want a tree for its spring flower but have soil too heavy to suit a cherry, then Malus is an excellent alternative, especially if you get autumn fruit thrown in for the autumn!
It is a small growing tree, so it is suited for most gardens.
We recommend rabbit guards for these trees if you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer.
Mature height: 3-7m
