Rose of Sharon

Hibiscus syriacus 'White Chiffon' is a compact Rose of Sharon with large, double white flowers that appear in summer and continue into autumn. Their pure white colour stands out beautifully against the dark green foliage.

The shallowly lobed leaves provide an attractive backdrop to flowers measuring up to 10cm across. Each bloom has five large outer petals surrounding a centre of smaller, petal-like stamens.

Supplied in tree form, this naturally compact shrub is well suited to smaller gardens and spaces. Its size can be further controlled through pruning, which can also help encourage flower production.

It prefers a sheltered position in full sun and performs best in free-draining soil. It is rated H5 for hardiness and typically develops a spread of around 1-1.5m.

If you prefer stronger pink or red-toned flowers, you may also want to consider Hibiscus syriacus.
