About this product

This is a cut-leaved cultivar of the Common Alder, Alnus glutinosa, and was introduced from France in the 1820’s. The foliage is finely cut around the edges and looks super against a bright blue sky. This cultivar has the benefit of beauty in the foliage, as well as having all of the tough qualities of its parent; it thrives in all soils and tolerates air pollution. Alnus glutinosa Laciniata is a Medium sized tree which has a graceful, conical habit. It is slightly smaller in ultimate height than the species and is a suitable selection for areas where the ground is damp. It is a super choice if you are looking for a native tree which offers more ornamental qualities to your garden. Planting in groups is particularly effective; if planted at 7m intervals the canopies will eventually merge and magnify the effect of the foliage. Mature Height - 17-22m
