Norway Maple Pacific Maple
Acer platanoides Pacific SunsetAbout this product
Acer platanoides Pacific Sunset is a wonderful cultivar of Norway maple, also known as Pacific Maple, that produces vibrant orange and red autumn colours. This attractive cultivar is a cross between Acer truncatum and Acer platanoides Warrenred.
It has the classic large lobed leaf foliage of Norway Maple, emerging bright green and turning orange and red in the autumn. This tough tree will thrive in most soil conditions, making it a good substitute for Acer rubrum varieties that have very specific soil requirements. The branches are fairly ascending when the tree is young, broadening to an oval shape as the tree matures.
Whilst the autumn foliage is not quite as long-lived as that of tree species such as Liquidambar, the autumnal displays do not disappoint for a tree that is such a stalwart performer.
It is a great choice if you are looking to add an ornamental twist to a naturalised-looking landscape.
Mature height: 12-17m
