Sentry Linden
Tilia americana American SentryAbout this product
In the USA, Tilia americana is known as ‘McKSentry’ to remember its breeder, Mackay Nurseries in Wisconsin. It was first introduced into the UK in the mid-1700s, and this recent clone is great for urban planting with a pyramidal habit.
Lush, large green leaves are fully grown by midsummer, creating much-needed shade for scorched urban streets and parks.
Tilia americana American Sentry will thrive on most free-draining soils and can tolerate quite dry conditions when established.
It makes a large tree, so it is unsuitable for most garden environments but is a great candidate for parkland and estates.
Its large leaves turn to yellow in the autumn before falling in November.
Mature height 12-17m
