Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Naturally occurring and discovered in Ireland in the late 1700s, Taxus baccata Fastigiata, also known as Irish Yew or Blue John, is a bushy tree with stiffly ascending branches commonly seen up and down the nation’s churchyards.
They can start very narrow but, if left unmolested, broaden and develop quite a middle-age spread.
Taxus baccata Fastigiata requires free-draining soil and won’t thrive in wet soil.
Its dark evergreen foliage is great for gardeners who don’t want to undertake much maintenance. Taxus baccata Fastigiata is one of our few native trees that can be easily kept as an evergreen column. This pleasing architectural shape can give a garden formality if planted with others in a pattern.
It is very well employed within terraced gardens to create a highly stately effect.
Mature height: 7-12m
