Lilac
Syringa vulgaris Alice HardingAbout this product
Many varieties of Lilac are on the market, but we offer two whites and two purples to make the choice easy!
Syringa vulgaris Alice Harding has been around since the late 1930s and produces fragrant white flowers in May and June. This deciduous shrub, with its green, heart-shaped leaves, adds vibrancy to a garden where a larger tree may be too big to accommodate. In late spring or early summer, it produces many clusters of double, white flowers that have a very sweet fragrance.
Lilacs thrive in well-drained soils and flower best when grown in full sun, though they can also grow in dappled shade. This tough small tree will grow in either full sun or dappled shade, and its white floral display is hard to beat. They don't require much pruning, but for multi-stemmed plants, you can prune out the oldest stems each year. Make sure to add mulch in the spring to keep the soil moist and support healthy growth.
Mature height: 3-5m
