About this product

Sorbus incana, also known as Whitebeam, is a tough Scandinavian tree that was raised at the botanic garden of Copenhagen. As such, it is particularly useful for those of you that get very cold in winter.

Its crisp silver/grey foliage and neat rounded habit make it a great urban tree.

Whitebeam tree rarely produces fruit, but at times it sets clusters of white flowers in the spring.

Sorbus incana thrives on most free-draining soils, and its lovely summer foliage display turns to yellow with a hint of orange in the autumn before falling in November.

Like Acer platanoides Farlakes Green, we grow this tough Scandinavian clone for our North East and Northern customers who struggle with the severest winters the UK can offer.

With recent weather extremes, including -17 degrees Celsius in the winter of 2010 at Barcham, this clone is a reliable choice to mix with other whitebeam types for added resilience.

If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer, then we recommend rabbit guards for these trees.

Mature height: 3-7m
