Salix matsudana Tortuosa, known as Wiggerly Willow or Dragon’s Claw Willow, has numerous names and is sometimes referred to as the Peking Willow.
Introduced from China in the 1900s, its contorted corkscrew twiggy growth is often dried and sold as decorations within the home.
Green leaves emerge in spring and turn yellow in the autumn ahead of leaf fall.
Salix matsudana Tortuosa thrives on most soils but is best on moist ground and makes a fine tree for a large garden.
Its twisting branch network is really appreciated when it is dormant without leaves in the winter, making this tree of genuine year-round interest.
