Weeping Pussy Willow
Salix caprea PendulaAbout this product
The weeping form of Pussy Willow that is top grafted onto a Salix caprea stem.
This pretty little tree was discovered by the side of the River Ayr in Scotland in the mid 1850s and was awarded the Award of Merit in 1977.
This small male weeping tree, which does best on moist soils, is perfect for gardens, producing the ultimate shape resembling an umbrella.
Its yellow shoots are followed in spring by attractive, grey catkins.
Salix caprea Pendula can be planted in areas where space is premium, as it will not grow to eclipse surrounding planting.
It has an interesting, architectural shape which can be combined and contrasted with other shapes in the garden to add interest to planting schemes.
