Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Salix alba Chermisina is the brilliantly scarlet-red-stemmed variety of white willow; it is also referred to as Salix alba Britzensis.
This willow is notable for having brilliant scarlet red-orange young stems that are most attractive in winter.
This tree received the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and is a tough contender that will tolerate most moist soil conditions.
Like most willow, this tree will tolerate extremely wet conditions, including planting in areas that experience regular flooding.
This specimen is a great choice for planting in parkland and gardens with the space to accommodate its large size and vigorous growth.
The bright red young shoots are particularly attractive in the winter sun against a bright blue sky and look fantastic against a dark evergreen background.
As a multi-stem, the tree can be coppiced down every winter to keep it under control.
Mature height: 17-22
