Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Quercus Ilex, commonly known as Holm or Evergreen Oak, is native to Mediterranean countries and has been grown in Britain since the 1500s. It is now also considered native to Southern Ireland. This Holm Oak features dense, dark green foliage with yellow catkins in spring and acorns in autumn.
Ideal for gardens where privacy is essential but space is limited, this Quercus Ilex is pleached with a 1.8-meter clear stem and a flat pleached frame measuring 1.4 metres wide by 1.8 metres high. The pleached form provides an elegant, evergreen screen above fence height without taking up valuable garden space.
Versatile and low-maintenance, Quercus Ilex can be pruned regularly to maintain its shape and is suitable for coastal plantings, topiary, and stilted hedging. It also thrives in shade and tolerates air pollution, making it perfect for urban areas.
Best planted in well-draining soils, it reaches a mature height of 3-4 meters when maintained.
