Ornamental Pear
Pyrus calleryana RedspireAbout this product
Patented by Princeton Nursery in America in 1975, this seedling of Bradford Pear is happily less vigorous than its parent, which has been known to break apart when older due to tight branch angles.
The foliage is so late to fall in autumn, so it is also great for screening.
Similar to Chanticleer, Redspire has a somewhat better autumn colour.
It is of medium height, generally somewhat columnar, becoming more oval when mature.
Profuse white blossom is produced in spring, followed by glossy foliage, which becomes orange and red.
It is an excellent choice for urban conditions and the streets and gardens.
If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer, we recommend rabbit guards for these trees.
Mature height: 12-17m
