Prunus Ukon medium size 2022
Japanese Cherry, Flowering Cherry Ukon
Prunus UkonOut of stock
Our new stock is growing! New stock will be available 1st September 2025.About this product
Introduced in the early 1900s, Prunus Ukon, also known as the Japanese Flowering Cherry, earned the prestigious Award of Garden Merit in 2002. While sometimes imported as top-grafted from the continent, this can lead to imbalance as the top may outgrow the rootstock over time. For long-term health, we recommend base-grafted specimens.
This vigorous, medium-sized tree has a rounded, spreading crown and stands out with its pale yellow, semi-double flowers tinged with green, occasionally flushed with pink, complementing the young bronze foliage. In autumn, its large green leaves transform into a striking display of red and purple.
Mature height: 3-7m
