Hybrid Cherry
Prunus schmittiiAbout this product
This Prunus avium hybrid dates back to 1923 and can reach over 15 metres under suitable conditions.
Sometimes too vigorous for streets, it is better placed on green verges or gardens where it needs little or no maintenance.
It is most remarkable for its polished, red-brown bark that improves every year.
Fairly quick growing, Prunus schmittii, also known as Hybrid Cherry, has stiffly ascending branches to form a narrow but large conical crown even at maturity.
It shows fine autumn colours and thrives best on free-draining soils.
Mature height: 7-12m
