About this product

This lovely tree is relatively new to the Barcham range and has proven to be a highly desirable addition to our selection.

The frilly, double-pink flowers appear in spring and remain on the tree until the dark wine-coloured foliage begins to emerge. This provides an excellent contrast between the two, creating a truly eye-catching effect. In autumn, the dark leaves turn a clearer red before falling.

Prunus Royal Burgundy is a small tree that differs from Kanzan in that it is slightly less vigorous. It forms an upright crown at a young age, gradually broadening to a rounder shape at maturity.

It will tolerate most soil conditions; however, like most cherries, it prefers well-drained soil.

This stunning dark-coloured beauty is a genuine rival to the very popular Prunus cerasifera Nigra, the widely planted dark-foliaged cherry.

The dark pink flowers and red-wine-coloured foliage give a stunning contrast in the spring and make a great selection for avenue planting.

It is best planted against a light or plain background, allowing this specimen's vivid colour to shine.

We also offer a multi-stemmed Prunus Royal Burgundy, which adds a sense of density to planting schemes.

Mature height: 3-7m
