Pinus wallichiana, or Bhutan Pine, is also called Pinus griffithii.
Its soft, long needles make you want to touch its foliage whenever you walk by one, and at maturity, it forms into a very elegant pyramidal specimen tree.
Introduced from the Himalayas in the 1820s, this lovely evergreen has a slightly bluish tinge to its canopy, with new candles of growth emerging in May.
Pinus wallichiana thrives on most free-draining soils and is an excellent choice for parkland or large gardens.
