Product details

Please note: These are half standards with approx. an 80cm clear stem.

Pinus pinea, known as Italian Stone Pine, is sometimes referred to as the Umbrella Pine.

Its large cones produce seeds that can be roasted to become the main ingredient for pesto sauce.

A round headed pine, it thrives on most free draining soils and also works on the coast, but not as the first line of defence.

New needle candles are produced in spring and this triggers older needles to yellow and drop further in the canopy.

Pinus pinea gets to be quite a size so is best planted to give year round evergreen interest in parkland or very large gardens.

Mature Height:12-17m
