Serbian Spruce
Picea omorikaAbout this product
Picea omorika, or Serbian Spruce, looks like a traditional Christmas Tree when young before its branches arch down at maturity.
Introduced into the UK in the 1880s, this evergreen is remarkably tolerant of alkaline soils and urban pollution, making it a hardy choice for a variety of landscapes. While it is low-maintenance, it performs best in a sunny spot with excellent drainage to protect its delicate root system.
It is a lovely, statuesque tree with a slender columnar habit, ideal for extensive gardens or parkland. Its foliage flushes a light green before maturing to a deeper green in summer, complemented by immature cones that are purple-tinged before they open up brown.
Mature Height: 12-17m
