About this product

Phyllostachys aurea, commonly known as Golden Bamboo, is a vigorous and bushy evergreen ideal for screening and hedging purposes. This fast-growing bamboo thrives in full sun or partial shade and is fully hardy, making it a versatile addition to any garden.

Golden Bamboo suckers up from its base, quickly forming dense borders, so it should be planted with care. The young canes are green but mature into thicker golden stems, creating a striking contrast in the garden. The clumps of culms grow close together and, along with their thick foliage, provide excellent visual and sound barriers, perfect for planting next to driveways and walkways.

Phyllostachys aurea can be cut back to ground level in April and will recover admirably and quickly. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils with a pH ranging from acid to alkaline and performs best in loam soil. Introduced from China in the 1870s, this bamboo is a popular choice for its robust growth and screening capabilities.
