Burkwood Osmanthus
Osmanthus x burkwoodiiAbout this product
Osmanthus × burkwoodii is a versatile, slow-growing evergreen shrub with a naturally rounded habit, reaching around 3m in height at maturity.
Clusters of tiny, highly scented white flowers appear in spring, followed by a small number of black berries in autumn. Its glossy, dark green, ovate leaves measure around 2.5-5cm in length and provide year-round interest.
Its dense growth makes Osmanthus × burkwoodii a useful choice for low-level evergreen screening, either as a single specimen or planted as a hedge. It can also be topiarised for a more formal appearance.
This variety responds well to pruning, which encourages fresh growth and helps maintain a neat shape. It will grow in full sun or partial shade and is suitable for most well-drained soil types. It also performs well in both exposed and sheltered positions and is rated H5 for hardiness, with a mature spread of around 2.5-4m.
Mature height: up to 3m
