Butterball Crab Apple

Malus Butterball

Tree size guide
£252.00

About this product

This prolifically fruiting crab apple has a great floral display in May which compliments its emerging green leaves.

A round headed tree with an ultimate height of 7 metres if grown in favourable conditions.

Like all crab apples it favours heavier soils and is far more tolerant of wet conditions than flowering cherries that are more specific to free draining soils.

The fruits come to prominence in the autumn and are marble sized and yellow with a slight orange blush. This is a great tree for bees in the spring and birds in the autumn. Who needs a bird feeder when you have one of these in your garden?!

The fruits are longer lasting than Malus Golden Hornet and are great for those crab apple jelly makers amongst you.

Malus Butterball has the added bonus of a striking autumnal leaf display so it is an ideal candidate to provide lots of interest for a small to medium sized garden.

Mature height: 3-7m
