Yellow Bird Magnolia
Magnolia x brooklynensis Yellow BirdAbout this product
This lovely small tree was raised at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before being introduced into the UK in 1981.
Creamy yellow flowers emerge in April, followed by full-sized, lush green leaves by the end of May. Magnolia x brooklynensis Yellow Bird can be grown as a bush or a single-stemmed tree to showcase its floral display to the full.
Like most Magnolias, it prefers acid rather than alkaline soil, but it still performs well enough on a neutral pH of 7.
Its lush leaves turn yellow in October. Magnolia x brooklynensis Yellow Bird thrives on free-draining soils but dislikes waterlogged ground. Its fleshy white roots are surface-growing, so never plant Magnolia deep.
Mature height: 3-7m
