Lagerstroemia indica Sarah's Favourite Multi-stem

We grow this Crape Myrtle as a multi stem bush with an ultimate height of about 5 metres so it is a great tree for a small garden with bark, flower and autumn colour interest.

For the pruners amongst you, a lot of fun can be derived with Lagerstroemia as the flowers are borne from new season’s growth so you won’t miss anything when winter pruned. I routinely take off half of the previous season’s growth each winter to create an architectural framework of smooth standout stems.

Its glorious white flowers can be hit and miss in the UK, only apprearing in the hottest of summers but they still seem to make a regular appearance at Barcham. Best on free draining but moist soils, try and avoid high alkalinity.

Mature height: 5-7m
