Lagerstroemia fauriei Tuscarora, or Crape Myrtle, gets its name from the famous Swedish botanist Magnus Von Lagerstroem, who lived among us in the early 1700s. This upright, multi-stemmed tree grows to about 20 feet tall at maturity and is the pink flowerer within our range.
Like all Lagerstroemia in the UK, the flower depends on a hot and sustained summer, but this genus offers so much more in terms of stem texture, architectural habit, and great autumn colour. It is best on free-draining but moisture-retentive soils with a pH under 7.5.
Like many trees, early growth can get burnt off by a late frost. This genus is best planted from the Midlands of England southwards in the UK to secure the climate for optimal growing.
Mature height: 5-7m
