Product details

Laburnocytisus 'Adamii', also known as Adams Laburnum, is an unusual hybrid of Chamaecytisus purpureus and Laburnum anagyroides. It's thought to have been fluked when a nurseryman from M Adam nurseries near Paris, in 1825, turned his attention to grafting purple flowered broom after finishing with Laburnum. It's unusual in the way that it produces yellow, pink & purple blooms. Depending on the weather, dense clusters of pretty flowers emerge around the middle of May-time. The mixture of colours seen on one tree is quite extraordinary.

The dark green foliage starts to emerge in April. As these are rare specimens, they are best planted individually in a tree collection. For optimal growth, choose a position in full sun on moist, well-drained soil. Hardy and low maintenance, Laburnocytisus 'Adamii' is an ideal tree for a smaller garden.
