Common Walnut
Juglans regiaAbout this product
The Common Walnut, also known as Juglans regia, is a large tree that produces a fantastic crop of Walnuts yearly.
This tree has medium-sized bright green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. The nuts appear in late summer/autumn. The bark of Juglans regia is smooth, unlike that of the Black Walnut, which takes on a fissured appearance from a young age.
At maturity, this slow-growing, medium-to-large tree develops a broadly oval crown that spreads almost as wide as it is tall.
It thrives in most soils; however, it does prefer that ground conditions are not waterlogged.
Although not particularly sensitive, this statuesque specimen does prefer to be planted in positions of full sun.
It makes a splendid and stately subject for parkland and avenue plantings.
Mature height: 20m+
