This great looking upright tree looks like a Fagus sylvatica Fastigiata but it is only when you see them side by side do you notice the difference.
Fagus orientalis Iskander looks so much cleaner and healthier in leaf texture and size as it is resistant to woolly aphid that commonly predates on Fagus sylvatica types.
It’s ascending branches and lustrous deposition makes it an architectural tree of great merit and suitable for most medium and large gardens.
Fagus orientalis Iskander thrives on most free draining soil and like most beech its juvenile foliage is retained on the tree as dead leaves in the winter months before being replaced by new growth in the spring.
Why do some trees hold onto their dead leaves?
Mature height: 12-17m.
