This hardy Date Palm a close relative of the persimmon has been in cultivation since the 1590s.

A good choice for arboretums and plant enthusiasts who would like something a little different in the garden Deciduous and native to China in the UK it makes a fairly small tree with shiny green tapered foliage.

Tiny green/red bell shaped flowers can be seen from mid to late summer Female plants produce inedible purple or yellow fruits which resemble small plums.
