Arizona Cypress 'Fastigiata'

As the name suggests this conifer is native to North America, specifically found in Arizona. A compact, narrow tree, it can still reach mature heights of 20m so do not be fooled by its size at supply and pop it into a shrub border though some topiarise it. The foliage is blue and a little ‘fluffy’ in appearance, its evergreen nature making it a point of interest year-round. Tiny yellow male cones and larger rounded female cones can be produced however on the Fastigiate selection of this tree production may be reduced,or only become more abundant as the tree matures. Used to arid climates it does not like waterlogged ground.
