Product details
This unusual variety of Turkish Hazel is smaller maturing than its parent plant, but much more striking! Fresh red coloured leaves emerge in the spring that then harden to a purple/green colour by mid-summer. Pink catkins are produced in February/March and the young thickening trunk has a hint of purple about it before it matures to a rough textured brown.
It is a relatively slow growing clone that makes a fine garden tree and offers lots of year-round interest. It will thrive in most free draining soil types. Red husks hold the promise of pink cobnuts but this tree is rarely fertile and so they are for ornamental purposes only.
