Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Stardust

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Stardust is a stunning golden yellow variety of Lawsons Cypress that won the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and was introduced from Holland in the 1960’s.

This pretty conifer has a very columnar shape to it, carrying the small scale like leaves in dense, flattened foliage sprays that have lively golden yellow growing tips to them.  The cones are small and globose.

Like other Lawson Cypress varieties, this clone will tolerate most soils providing the area is well drained. 

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Stardust is a slow growing, small, evergreen conifer making it perfect for gardens. 

The columnar shape however lends it to being more of a specimen tree than a screening tree, as the majority of the width for coverage will always be at the base of this tree.
