Pecan
Carya illinoinensisAbout this product
Not as common as the walnuts produced from either Juglans regia or Juglans nigra, pecan nuts are just as tasty. Carya Illinoinensis prefer the moister soils in the south west of England and fruiting isn’t guaranteed every year but when they do fruit you can fill your boots! Carya Illinoinensis is mostly grown as a stately parkland tree in the UK with its broad crown making it too big a prospect for any but the largest gardens. It thrives best on deep fertile loamy soils that stay moist in the summer and are free draining in the winter. Vibrant green leaves turn yellow in autumn. Mature height: 20+
