Weeping Birch
Betula pendula TristisAbout this product
Betula pendula 'Tristis', commonly known as the Weeping Birch, was introduced to the UK in the 1860s and matures into one of the most graceful pendulous trees available.
Often confused with Betula pendula 'Youngii' - a much smaller, garden-sized tree - Betula pendula 'Tristis' can reach the greatest mature height of all the Birch cultivars we stock, making it best suited to parkland or large gardens.
Betula pendula Tristis thrives on most free-draining soils and develops the characteristic Silver Birch bark as it matures. Its twiggy branch network is particularly stunning in winter, especially if exposed to a hard frost, which frames the canopy.
