Norway Maple Princeton Gold
Acer platanoides Princeton GoldAbout this product
Acer platanoides Princeton Gold is a sparkling golden-leaved cultivar of the Norway Maple. Like the species, this tree has discrete yellow flowers that appear in spring; however, they are a little lost against the stunning emerging spring foliage, which is sunny and bright golden yellow.
As summer progresses, the foliage gradually shifts in colour, eventually becoming predominantly green. While this tree’s foliage may be prone to scorching in the warmer climates of the USA, the temperate UK climate is ideal, allowing it to thrive. Its vibrant leaf colour makes it one of the best yellow varieties available.
Like its parent, Acer platanoides Princeton Gold, also known as ‘Prigo’, is a tough performer that tolerates most soil types, air pollution, and drought.
This medium-sized golden maple tree produces an oval crown and is best suited to planting schemes where contrast is prominent. It is particularly effective when planted with deep green or red foliage opposite.
Mature height: 12-17m
