Column Norway Maple
Acer platanoides ColumnareAbout this product
Acer platanoides Columnare, known as the Column Norway Maple, was introduced in the mid-1850s as a tough urban tree that copes well with most soil types and the reflected heat and light associated with built-up areas.
Its ascending and stubby branch network allows it to be planted in more confined areas than its parent, Acer platanoides. However, Acer platanoides Columnare still makes a sizable tree, so it is best to avoid planting it in small gardens.
Its crisp green foliage turns a soft yellow before the leaves fall in the autumn, and small yellow cluster flowers are produced early in the spring.
Mature height: 12-17m
