Osakazuki Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum Osakazuki multi stemAbout this product
Acer palmatum Osakazuki is a popular cultivar of its parent, Japanese Maple. It is considered the best of all because it produces a stunning autumn display of red.
Like all Japanese Maples, this cultivar has lobed leaves that emerge vivid green in the spring and remain this colour until autumn arrives, bringing a wide array of red, yellow, and orange.
This tree performs best in nutritious, moist, well-drained, loamy soils. While it can be prone to some leaf scorch in extreme summer heat or windy conditions, it can mature to form a small—to medium-sized tree with a rounded shape.
It is a sensible choice for introducing higher-level autumn colour into a scheme that is perhaps already surrounded by a solid base of other foliage. It would also be useful for providing contrast where autumn colours are predominantly yellows and golds.
Mature height: 3-7m
